Poor sound in games!

While playing on Crysis the voices sounded distorted, I completed the game and just thought it was a bug (never noticed poor sound quality before). playin on NFS Pro Street in races the sound is terribly distorted.

I decided that my onboard Realtek HD might have been the cause of the problem. I bought a new sound card but with the same results.

It only seams to distort in games and never during general pc usage.

Would just like to know what might be causing this distortion and if there is anythig i can do do fix it :)

Please give your ideas, anything could be helpful thank you.

Just to help you a little, the PC specs are:

Motherboard: Foxconn P4M9007MB
Processor: Pentium D 3.40GHz x2
RAM: 2GB
Graphics Card: BFG GeForce 8800GTS (320mb) OC2
PSU: 650w
Sound Card: Sent the one I bought back, so using the onboard Realtek HD.
Hard Drive: Maxtor 320GB SATA
Operating System: XP HOME SP2

Also using all the most up to date drivers.

Don't think Ive missed anything important, but I will give as much info as needed :)
