Soundmax Onboard sound and 5.1
I'm running Vista32, and I have a P5N32-SLI Premium Mobo with the onboard HD audio card.
I recently decided to plug in the back two speakers of my 5.1 klipch Pro media system and started fiddling around with the settings. Using what I'm assuming is SoundMAX's console (control panel/sound/config speaker) I'm trying to set my system up as 5.1, but it will only let me set the rear speakers as SIDE speakers...nothing sounds right. If I set them as 7.1 and turn off the side speakers, the rear speakers sound like they're playing in a metal tube or something...really horrible. What do I need to do in order to get my REAR speakers to work as REAR speakers, using what I have? I have two Nvidia 8800 GT's in SLI, and the only available PCI port is in between the cards, so I can't install another sound card to correct this issue. That would be way too much heat in one spot ><; I DO have a Creative X-Fi Fata1ity, but I never got it working, and from what I've read, this card is basically a really expensive desk ornament when it comes to Vista. |
