Low Sound Output
I recently upgraded to a different machine, but kept my old hard drive and peripherals. Ever since I upgraded, my speaker volume seems eternally low. I've checked all the volume settings, even the "hidden" volume controls. My connections are all okay. I've downloaded all the new drivers for my built-in soundcard (built into MicroStar International MS-6734 motherboard) but to no avail. This afternoon, I decided to get a different sound card in an attempt to solve the problem. The new sound card is a Creative Labs CT5803. I got the new drivers for that too but the problem persists. Even at max volume, my music is just audible.
I've searched these forums and come up with one possible solution: I need to buy self-powered speakers because the motherboard cannot support these speakers correctly? Would this be something to try? Or does anyone have another possible solution? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: Low Sound Output
If you have the same problem with 2 sound devices, it could be the speakers. Are they attached to an amp or are they self-contained? Do they have a built-in volume control? Try testing them on another computer and try another cable.

Re: Low Sound Output
Speakers are self-contained and have no built-in volume control. Volume control is via buttons on keyboard.
Speakers worked fine before I switched computers though. So I think they are fine, it just sounds like they're not getting enough power... |
