Distorted sound (too high-pitched)
Hi, masters
I'm having the following problem, with my Compaq Presario 3.4 MHz, 1GB RAM, running on WinXP Home Edition with SP2 and Realtek AC97 sound card: Everything has been OK for two years, but all of a sudden any sound coming from the computer is too high-pitched. In fact, it sounds as if you were playing an old 33 rpm viniyl record at 45 rpm (although it actually sounds at the right speed). The problem happens for any sound source (music CD, sound files, external MP3 player, internet radio,...) I have the same problem if I use earphones, so the problem shouldn't come from the speakers (?). Equalizing the sound has little or no effect. Drivers seem to be ok at control panel/system/hardware/device administrator. Any idea? Thank you in advance |
