Okay, I ahve a custom made computer. The video card is an Asus P5N32-SLI and it has a built in sound card, or comes with one. I'm not sure, my friend built the comp.
But yea, I have Windows XP and when I listen to music the background sounds, like the soudns that are suppose to sound quieter, but still be there, aren't. I can't hear it at all. I looked in all the options, but I didn't find anything to help me out. It's already set on 5.1 Surround sound, so I'm confused. If anyone has any idea or needs more info, please jsut leave a reply.

Re: Windows XP and Asus P5n32-SLI w/ built in sound
check the sound is not muted
in the device manager click on view at the top and then on show hidden devices then check for yellow alongside any of the entries
