Inspire 6.1 6600 wired remote

hey TSF,
Looking for a solution to a problem with my wired remote (i think) on my Creative Inspire 6.1 6600 speaker system.
There is a power light on the wired remote that went out but I still get the blip sounds when turning the speakers on from the remote. Tested the output of the sound card (Creative Audigy 2) and its sending a signal.
I have searched other forums as well as this one and found that this particular remote has issues frequently and found that the solution to it is to clean the variable resistors in the remote with alcohol. This I have done to no avail and have further searched for somewhere I could buy a replacement remote again to no avail.
The Creative site has a wired remote listed in their products but doesn't list the 6600 as a compatible system.

Anyone have this or a similar issue that can provide some guidance?

Sorry folks,
I forgot to mention the most frustrating thing about this problem,
I get no sound from my speaker system, just the blip described above.

ok, so I realize I have been a member for very long and I only became a member to ask a question on this board. If there really isn't a solution to this problem, just let me know please.
