No Sound
Hi,
I have no sound at all on my computer. I have an on board sound system (Nvidia Nforce 2 motherboard). I have checked and done all the following: - checked that nothing was on "mute" - updated the drivers - checked different outputs (headphones, stereo, ...) - Re-installed Windows - bought a new sound card (Creative Sound Blaster Audigy LS) Before installing the new sound card, i could open any player (Winamp, WMP, iTunes, ...) and it would play, everything would work, BUT i wouldnt get any sound out! I have now installed the sound card, all went well but this appears when i attempt to play something: ![]() ![]() I have also tried with another sound card: same problem. I am starting to get quite annoyed with this and i really hope one of you can help me out or direct me to another, more appropriate forum. cheers Last edited by Deleted090308; 09-21-2007 at 01:34 PM. Re: No Sound
I saw this one, I don't know if it'll be of any help:
"concerning the "DirectSound output v2.42 (d) error.Bad DirectSound driver" problem, i've founf the solution, first open winamp==) Ctrl P(for preferences) ==) double click on directsound output V2.43 (d) [out_ds.dll] and change the peripherique from " 01: perepherique audio principal" to "02: realtek AC97 Audio" then click on apply. am sure if u follow the steps ut Pc will be healed from this stupid technological manufacturing mistake. " or this one: ""1. Winamp > Ctrl+P (for preferences) 2. Plug-ins > Output 3. double click 'DirectSound output' 4. Driver tab 5. make sure the device in the drop-down list correctly reflects your soundcard Further DirectSound config tweaks -and/or- 1. Control Panel 2. Sounds & Audio Devices icon (or MultiMedia Icon) 3. Audio tab 4. in 'Sound playback' make sure the 'Default device:' drop-down box correctly reflects your soundcard No dice? Try updating the soundcard drivers. If you have a soundcard go the manufacturer's website for updates. If you have an on board sound chip, go to the website of your computer provider or the manufacturer of the mother board. Also make sure DirectX is up to date for your system. Close down Winamp, Windows and reboot the computer after making any of the above changes." " http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum...d-output-v2-42 |

Re: No Sound
eneles, I have already installed and re-installed the drivers, both from the website and the CD. Problem is still there.
tosh9i, the answers you gave me were more related to winamp, right? sorry if i didnt make it clear, but that image of the winamp message posted in the first post was just to illustrate the problem. but i have tried all your options with no success, because: - there was always only one drop-down box, and it did not particularly reflect my SC. this is another message i get when i click on control panel from the start menu:

Re: No Sound
this is what i see:
![]() ![]() and when i update the driver for the device that has an exclamation mark: it looks through for drivers and find the correct Audigy LS ones but after a while (of transferring files and installation) it stops and ends it self with a "data error" message. |

Re: No Sound
This problem has troubled me for a while ... i was just using the on board sound system previously (Nvidia nForce 2 motherboard) and when this problem occurred i tried several things but nothing worked so i though id try a sound card so i bought the Audigy LS, but the problem remains.
