Dual Core Problem Audigy 2 Zs Gamer
I "upgraded" my HP A1130n from a 3500 vencie chip to a AMD 4200x2. I did have some problems at first, but with the MS hotfix, AMD dual core optimizer, 3.47 update bios HP(for Msi 7093 AMD 939 mobo), update Audigy 2 drivers etc, I have both cores running. However my Audigy 2 ZS Gamer is now 1/2 as loud as it was and crackles and pops at max vol, which is not loud. Was the best card I ever used before the "upgrade". I have installed, reinstalled, updated etc etc the Audigy drivers. I even uninstalled all the Creative drivers took out the Audigy, ran the stock sound(was loud) then reinstalled the whole shabang....still 1/2 as loud(read not loud at all).
Any other ideas appreciated. AMD 4200x2 Antec 550 watt Ati 800gto2 2 g 3200 ram dual channel Audigy 2 zs Gamer Msi 7093 mobo 3.47 bios Win xp pro |

Re: Dual Core Problem Audigy 2 Zs Gamer
Hi Joe,
I need your advice. I have an Hp d400e with, I think, the same mb (HP's Albacore version of the MS-7093 and bios 3.47) I tried a 4200+ X2 f6 stepping in it and no post, just a little DVD action no HD, no beeps nothing else. How did you get yours running and what is the "MS hot fix" Thanks much for anything you can tell me. John |

Re: Dual Core Problem Audigy 2 Zs Gamer
Microsoft hotfix for dual chip support. Eventually I bought a x-fi gamers card. Same problem. Eventually I reformatted HD and put in XP pro and now the X-fi card works, so it might be windows I don't know....good luck
email me I can send the software if you can receive it. sgtmeatsauce@gmail.com |

Re: Dual Core Problem Audigy 2 Zs Gamer
Hi Joe,
I can't boot the ms7093 mb with my 4200+ x2 chip (it an E6 stepping). The p/n is ADA4200DAA5CD. The original 3500+ always works. What 4200+ X2 are u using? Thx, John |

Re: Dual Core Problem Audigy 2 Zs Gamer
i HAVE TWO ONE FOR MY SON'S COMPUTER AND ONE FOR MINE. Mine is 4200x2 and his is the 3800 x 2. did you clean off the area and add silver artic grease? It has to have the grease, use sparingly, too much you get the black screen....try that.

Re: Dual Core Problem Audigy 2 Zs Gamer
Hi Joe
I used a brand new AMD AVC cooler with 4 heatpipes the same one used on the new quads and the 64000+ (has silver thermal compound pre-applied it). I also have one of these coolers on my 5000+ X2 BE and it is running right above rm temp ( according to MBM and speedfan 22-23C ) w/room at 20c. Mattlock in the mb forum says that the 7093 won't run with an E6 or any 'E' stepping for that matter. That's why I was wondering what stepping you were using. John |

Re: Dual Core Problem Audigy 2 Zs Gamer
Stepping? I am unfamilar with that, I have XP PRO, and just put the chip in and rebooted. Added the dual core AMD software and the MS hot fix and I guess all is well currently. How do I change this stepping or check and see what it is at?

Re: Dual Core Problem Audigy 2 Zs Gamer
The stepping is a revision of the internals in the cpu. This can be determined from the model# and codes on the cpu for instance the one I have is an ADA4200DAA5CD. The codes underneath this on the cpu are LCBQE & 0723VPMW. The 0723 means it was made the 23rd week of 2007. The LCBQE is a Toledo core E6 stepping. This is my concern as my bios is way older than this chip. If you happen to have the model of your cpu i could look it up and see what differences (if any). I was under the assumption that any 939 chip would work. Now I am stuck until I get my ECS mb in on Wed. and verify that the cpu is OK. I will be working w/ two unknowns at that point. If the ECS doesn't boot with the 4200+ x2 I will have to take the cpu out of the HP and verify the ECS mb is OK. If is is then I can say the 4200+ x2 is bad. This is as bad as all the detours here around Pittsburgh! Appreciate you working w/ me on this! Will keep u posted.

Re: Dual Core Problem Audigy 2 Zs Gamer
Hi Joe,
That was really kind of you! Looks like your cpu is the same stepping (LCBQE) and made a week before mine (should make absolutely no diff) Now I am really anxious to get the ECS and verify that my 4200 is OK! If it runs in the ECS mb, I will email you for the MS hot fix (I got xp pro w/ the HP) so it should recognize the 2 cpus. Again, I appreciate your patience and help! John |

Re: Dual Core Problem Audigy 2 Zs Gamer
Hi Joe,
Finally after a whole month of fighting Paypal and Fastmemoryman I got a replacement 4200 X2 939. It was assembled 0719 and it works. What a relief!. I just want to thank you again for your help! John |
