Upgrading Soundcard for Vista
Hi
Just bought a new Advent PC (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E4500 2.2GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB Cache, Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium 2048MB RAM Memory 250GB Hard Drive DVD Re-Writer 128MB Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE on-board Realtek Sound card. I've hooked up my Quad Creative speakers but have the usual problem I've read about, in that I can't get proper Quad sound and when I'm using headphones, the sound is in Mono. I've tried all configurations without any luck. Having done some research on the net I've come to the conclusion that for proper audio recording using Sonar 6 the Realtek doesn't cut it so I'm looking to upgrade. Can anyone recommend a soundcard that will work properly (ie. full quad sound) with Vista and deliver the goods for Sonar 6 use? Thanks in advance

Re: Upgrading Soundcard for Vista
Hi,
What's up thanks for your question. I had the same problem with my onboard sound which was also realtek. I have a gateway computer 2 gig intel core 2 duo Intel motherboard. Well anyways I had the same problem so I got the creative audigy 2 sound card. Works great but the thing is it will say the system has not detected it at first meaning vista has not detected it but, you just need to go to creatives website and make sure you get the windows vista 32 bit drive for it. then go to start programs then creative then audio console and in there for the speaker section make sure you have of course 4.1 selected as your speaker configuration or 5.1 if you have that. Also in the cmss mode tab in the same location make sure that cmss is turned on Keep the stero focus slider right where it is. Mke sure the surround sound knob on your speakers is set all the way. Also right click on the little yellow volume control in the lower right corner of windows vista right next to the clock a sub menu appears choose playback devices right click on speakers and select configure speakers of course. That's the speaker setup choose your setup hit next. where is says full range speakers at the bottom make sure both are checked fron't left and right and surround sound. and that should do it thanks Steve: |
