No Sound On Right Side.

I've just noticed I have no sound on the right side. I've tried two different sets of speakers as well as a set of headphones, and have the same problem. (note that all speakers work fine with other computers) I've tried everything in the volume control device manager, made sure the volume was turned all the way up on both sides, etc. It's plugged into the right hole on the back of the computer- green plug to green hole with the speaker icon over it.

My computer is an AMD Athlon 1.10 Ghz with 1G DDR. Running XP SP2, Nvidia Geforce fx 5200, and the sound card says C-Media wave device.

Any ideas on what my problem might be here?

Re: No Sound On Right Side.

When you went into Volume Control, did you look at the Balance sliders which control left/right speaker volume? You need to go to Options > Advanced Control to bring up these horizontal sliders which will appear below the vertical volume sliders.

Re: No Sound On Right Side.

I'm bumping this to add: I dug up an old sound card and put it in, and I get the same problem- no sound on the right side. I was using the onboard sound, which is called C-Media 97 audio device. The one I put in is a Creative one, but still, no sound on the right side.

Re: No Sound On Right Side.

I haven't tried because it hasn't prompted me to start in safe mode. Is there some kind of prompt to get it to go into safe mode?
