Re: sound icon & property help

This is a common problem with XP. See here for a list of solutions to try. You will need your XP CD.

Re: sound icon & property help

Open Windows Explorer and go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab. Scroll down to 'Hide protected OS files' and remove the checkmark. Then go to Windows\System32 and unzip the file below into this folder.

Set the 'Protected OS files' back to hidden, then go to Start > Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices and click 'Show volume control on the taskbar'. The volume icon should now appear in the systray. If not, reboot.
