![]() Hi,Im going grey as I dont know how to fix the problem! I had a problem with my computer, which came with windows xp pre installed on it, so I decided to reinstall the whole lot using the 3 cds that came with it. The first cd kept stopping during installation, and I had to install windows xp individually from another cd (not one of the 3 that came with the computer) Now the computer has no sound, and it is saying that there is a problem with the multimedia audio centre (code 28) Now you may be able to tell from my rubbish descriptions of things that I am not particularly good with computers - I just need to know what to do to get the sound back etc. I believe its something to do with an AC97 driver but I havent got a clue which, how to download it etc etc. I have found one and tried to downlad it but everytime I do I get a message saying that the only one who can run the file is the administrator. I am the only person with an account on the computer.Plus I dont actually know if its the right one, or what Im actually doing with it. Im really sorry to be a pain but I dont know what to do!!! |

Re: multimedia audio controller
Hi, welcome to TSF
Code 28 means there are no audio drivers installed. There are a few different versions of the AC97 Realtek drivers, and you need the right one to be compatible with your motherboard. The driver should be on your motherboard CD. If you don't have this or it's not working, download Everest, go to Computer > Summary > Motherboard > Motherboard Name & Chipset, and post back with the details in blue. Also, scroll down to Multimedia > Audio Adapter. Is anything listed there?
