Re: No Sound Anymore?

Right click on My Computer and go to properties. Then go to the hardware and click on Device manager. Take a look and see if any hardware has a yellow or red symbol next to it. If you sound card shows one of these error follow the following steps. Download Everest 2.0 (link in my signature) and scan your system to find the make and model of your sound card. Tell go to the manufactures website and download the most recent drivers. They should list the instructions on the website on how to install them. Let us know what you find. Or you can go to http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/index.html and locate your exact machine and they should have all the drivers for it.

Re: No Sound Anymore?

Good advice given by 95five-0. Just wanted to add, that if you have a motherboard disk for this baby (and you should have to download the chipset drivers), then the sound items you need to download are on that motherboard disk. If you don't, then the manufacturer's website will do it for you.

Re: No Sound Anymore?

To see the make of your sound card in Everest, go to Computer > Summary > Multimedia > Audio Adapter. The blue text is a link to the latest driver.

Re: No Sound Anymore?

Hello all, I have had the same problem as 01-cannon-c. I have had to reformat my computer as I had a nasty virus which slipped through AVG and I had no sound as well.

So I downloaded the driver and application from the website and it comes with this message

'Set up is unable to detect a supported product on your system'

The sound card is a Soundblaster Audigy 2.

How long does a soundcard live for and can someone tell me if a soundcard is a piece of Hardware (stick it in the computer) or software (with a disk)

can someone explain to me how I would have ended up with no sound and can a virus attack hardware as well as software?

Thanks
