[SOLVED] Sound Blaster X-fi Platinum no longer being found
Hey everyone,
judging by the titles of the other threads in this section, i can see that others are having similar problems, but not with my specific card. I have a Dell XPS 600 desktop, with a Sound Blaster X-Fi card. I looked up the serial number on the card, SB0460, and it came up with a few card names, one being the Platinum version. Well, i had this computer at school with me in Oregon and everything worked fine until i brought it home. I deliberately did not bring my speakers and subwoofer home with me to Chicago, but left them in my apartment in Oregon. I have some old speakers here and they are plugged in, but my control panel says "No Audio Device." I figured that maybe the Driver was uninstalled, but when i tried to find one online it went through the extracting phase, then when the installer started it said "Setup unable to detect a supported product on your system..." So i figure that i probably didnt find the right driver for my card, if anyone out there can help me out that would be fantastic. Thanks again guys

Re: Sound Blaster X-fi Platinum no longer being found
Hi, and welcome to TSF!
![]() Check in device manager for any devices with yellow !'s next to them, and if you find any see if it is something like Multimedia Audio Device. If you can't, run the Add New Hardware wizard from the Control Panel and see if that picks up the card. If all that fails, try another PCI slot in the computer. And if you can, try the card in another computer.

Re: Sound Blaster X-fi Platinum no longer being found
It means usually that there is no sound card driver installed. Windows doesn't know whether you have speakers or not because audio out is a uni-direction interface (unlike VGA for instance where Windows can detect a monitor).

Re: Sound Blaster X-fi Platinum no longer being found
Thanks to both of you, it works now. Believe it or not, when i was traveling with my computer the card must have gotten bumped out of the socket. so i had to push it back in. wow i feel dumb. haha,
