Wierd dB reduction recording sustained note
Hi folks, I have used Cooledit 2000 happily for a long time. I haven't changed hardware and I have reinstalled the software to no avail. When I play a MP3 backing tack and record in track 2 everything records beautifully until I hit a sustained note. The note volume is fine for 3 or 4 seconds but suddenly the amplitude plunges and the volume drops by 10dB or more. If I stop and start singing again the whole thing is fine until I hit a sustained note again. I have tried using a different mic so it's not the mic. I've also tried a radio mic. My PC is a Targa running XP Home Ed with a very fast processor and 512Mb RAM. I have no seperate soundcard, the motherboard has this built-in.
