Hi and I am a new member here. I just want to ask if there would be any solution to my sound card problem.
I have this Twinhead P14S [before it was P14N because the motherboard was replaced] running Windows XP Professional SP2. I'm not sure if there's a problem with my sound card because it doesn't play any sound when I'm running Windows. The only sound that I could hear from the speakers is the "beep" whenever I start the computer. Whenever I plug the microphone into my laptop, I could hear my voice from the speaker. When I try to play any sound file to my computer, it appears that the computer is playing but there are no sounds come out from my speakers.I have installed the applicable drivers for my P14S motherboard (I cannot use the audio driver from the supplied CD of my laptop anymore since the original motherboard, P14N, was replaced). I would be glad if anyone knows how to solve my problem. |

Re: Unresolved Sound Problem with Realtek AC97 Audio
I've done working with it but it doesn't really seem to be solution. I think the problem could have been my motherboard after it was replaced.
By the way,is there something I need to configure in the BIOS setup or somewhere? Windows appears to be playing the sound but there are no sounds coming out to my speakers :( |

Re: Unresolved Sound Problem with Realtek AC97 Audio
Do u think this has something to do with the driver? I got the sound card driver from Realtek's site and it's still not working. The driver I got goes with the name, WDM_A400.
Would there be any alternate drivers? |

Re: Unresolved Sound Problem with Realtek AC97 Audio
first of all check the cmos setup utility... Try enabling onboard audio from advanced settings ...

Re: Unresolved Sound Problem with Realtek AC97 Audio
I already tried doing that before. Unfortunately, I was not able to find any of the selections on my CMOS related to audio. Anyway, I have posted my scanned samples of my laptop's CMOS below. I just have a small knowledge with regards to my laptop's CMOS and maybe you could find the solution here.

Re: Unresolved Sound Problem with Realtek AC97 Audio
I've had similar problems with the realtek ac97 audio.
I found out earlier this year that 1 of Microsoft's updates upsets the driver. As I have a network of 5 machines all with the 97 audio, this has caused problems. I found the answer in a national weekly computer mag, fortunately, I have all the copies for this year, & it's just a matter of re-reading and finding it. Once done will post the answer so that everyone with realtek audio can benefit. In the meantime, try Microsoft's knowledge base. Hope this helps. |
