Problems with audiofire 4 soundcard.
Got problems with the sound when I play anything.
Like if I use a VST, there sometimes occur crackling noices. This also happens when I play a tune in Sonar. When I don't play there are no crackles. It seems to be linked to the degree of processor use, but I never use more than 40% of the capacity, and it crackles around 10-15%.. I have a P4, 3ghz, 2 gigs of ram, 7200 harddrive, texas instruments OHCI compatible 1394 controller, xp with sp2, latest drivers 3.1.1 and new firmware. Also downloaded a update for sp2 to increase speed with 1394 transfer. Do you have any idea what might cause this problem? Can there be anything wrong with the soundcard?? Kindly regards, Øystein |

Re: Problems with audiofire 4 soundcard.
I posted an accidental message here responding to you yesterday but I was just thinking I could help you follow a couple of leads. There were no other replies to your question so with my audio expertise, I perhaps could apply it to this issue. First have you looked for any help from Echo? I did follow up and verify you are running the latest drivers and software that is current on their support page. I ask this because I think this is a UK product. I haven't seen it in the USA. I love the idea of a sound device off the 1394 port though.
Can you let me know if you have had any contact with Echo regarding this or at least an attempt to look it up on their knowledge base if they have one? I'm responding out of courtesy because I think I may be able to help and since I haven't seen a reply from another person, they may not feel they have enough knowledge to assist with at not so common hardware product.
