Simp-le volume adjustment on AC'97 onboard sound
'm stuck and confused.
My icon on the taskbar is 'stuck' at half volume and my other on screen devices for playing audio are also at half volume. The audio is onboard AC'97 on a Mach Speed X-caliber mother board. The only 'gain' adjustment for this is in the equalizer portion of the on screen controls. If I set those all high is that the equivalent of 'volume control'? Also how can I master the setting to keep the volumes the same across all media players and on screen controls? |

Re: Simp-le volume adjustment on AC'97 onboard sound
Hi,
Try raising the volume control in the advanced volume control window. Also, sliding all the equalizer bars will do the same, but you will not get as much volume. If you want the volume to stay the same for all programs, then set the volume control to a level you like for each, then keep it there. There is really no global volume control in Windows since it can't control the volume in programs.

I think my USB receiver is 'taking over' the volume control and that has been a source of the difficulty. When I open audio control, it shows a 'usb audio device' perhaps instead of the AC'97. I forgot the exact notation. However raising all the EQ did not change the half volume. The volume on the USB receiver can be adjusted amnually, but that pointer does not go more than half way on screen. It's a peculiar problem having a device like the Yamaha RP U100 as part of the audio setup. The problem actuall developed when switching from Win98 (USB 1.1) and Win2000pro which is, I believe, USB 2.0 |
