I just recetly had my computer fixed and they installed a new mother board and now when i try and use any voice chat program the person im talking to can hear themselves and the noises and warnings my comuter makes as if the sound from my computer is being directly re-routed back to them somehow I'v tried the headset on another computer and it works just fine and i'v also checked my my sound settings in the control panel and everything seems to be right. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Got a new motherboard mic dosent seem to be working?
You didn't go into detail on your checking of the control panel. But I know under XP and previous operating systems. You have to click on the system mixer and then specifically change the drop down menu from playback settings to recording settings. The volume control and the selection checkbox must be enabled for the microphone input. Sometimes there is an advanced button for enabling a large DB of boost which is something to try. Fact is, you could have the microphone plugged into the right slot and even hear yourself, but if the recording mixer is not set correctly, the computer won't retransmit it. I've seen many settings that have the record option as "what you hear" that would work only if you have the playback pot up for the microphone mixer input meaning you hear yourself and it gets broadcasted as well. I hope this was clear enough for you. Of course if you have completed these steps and everything looks good. There is always the good ol' reliable sound recorder app to test your microphone levels with.
