ASUS Mobo Sound Problem

I have an ASUS a8n-sli deluxe mobo. The mobo has 5.1 out and SPDIF out. I have been using the case ports for sound. Recently I plugged into the back of the computer and noticed that the righ side of the speakers/headphones don't work. I have reinstalled the drivers and still nothing. I can plug back into the front ports and everything will be fine and dandy. I only worry because I want to hook a 5.1 system up pretty soon and I don't want the thing to break on me. Any suggestions?

buy a cheap pci card.
