audio issues

i have a strange issue that i cannot seem to pinpoint.

whenever i'm at the desktop or watching a movie, it's almost like it echoes or like you're in a movie theatre (not a huge echo). it's not a solid sound i guess.

i guess the main sound it's giving is like somebody talking into a metal pipe or something similar.

any ideas?

Run through your audio device menus, some ( like my santa cruz and audigy 4) have little effects, and yours might be on reverb, or even set to simulate a particular venue, such as a movie theatre or bathroom.
