CMI8738/C3DX sound card issues.

I'm here pulling the last threads of hair from my scalp!

My sound works fine, everything related to sound output works fine... Untill I try and record with the microphone using any program/game. I really dont want it to be a hardware issue and I'm fairly sure its not.

Using the mixer I can enable microphone output and it works fine. I can hear the microphone working through the speakers crystal clear. When I open sound recorder and press record, as soon as the microphone picks up some sound I loose all sound output - but the microphone input is still working. It also causes the sounds from the mic to be directed through my speakers constantly, even when I disable it in the mixer. Sometimes this does not happen and my computer just stalls then bluescreens. I have no real data from this problem as I can't find any, though I'm desperate to fix this issue and will follow all instructions to get data if someone thinks they can help me.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers, changed pci slots. I don't have much experience with sound cards so I can't think of anything else to do. Thanks for reading, help would be MUCH appreciated!

Jesse.

My System

u sure its in the correct line in port? as it can be projected through the speakers even if it is not in the right audio port. Make sure its in mic in, if it is, give it a go in line in.
