I look at the third or fourth choice, since those actually have 5.1 input rather than just a single stereo 3.5 mm plug.
After looking at the specs, the fourth one would be my choice. The speakers are spaced farther apart. It also got better reviews. What you are looking for is a large frequency range, so it will make lower and higher sounds. Other than that, there is not much else to keep it simple.

I've recently gotten into the headphone scene and discovered it is a huge and expensive hobby. There really is a lot to it and a lot of enjoyment that can come from it, as well as thousands of sets to choose from, with several highend models well over $1000.
I'm registered over at head-fi.org. The community there is simply enormous and their collective knowledge is used daily to help recommend headphones to prospective buyers. The general consensus over there is that headphones claiming to have "surround sound" or 5.1 support really aren't anything to write home about. If you're looking for a set with a built in mic, then obviously your selection drastically decreases and generally speaking, unfortunately so does the quality of audio. Headphones from Sennheiser, AKG, Audio Technica, and Beyerdynamic are all recognized as good, solid brands. Unfortunately, a lot of headphones require a fair amount of power to drive them, often to the point where you will need a dedicated headphone amp to really have them sound they way they should. Personally, I own a pair of Audio Technica ATH-A500's. They're closed, extremely comfortable and lightweight for their size, and on Head-Fi are regarded as one of the best budget-gaming headphones, and generally a great all around phone for movies and music as well. They really don't benefit from an amplifier, so they're a good entry-level phone. They come in at $100, but unfortunately are only sold in Japan. You can order them (and many other high-end headphones) from audiocubes.com If you really have a passion for music and audio gear, some entry-level headphones are a necessity. If you're only going to be using them infrequently and not for extended periods of time, there may not be much point in spending $100 on a pair of cans. |

so if any one tries to sell you razer headsets .. Just stab them in the hart on the spot, for suggesting such a crime against humanity... trust me it will work better in the long run to spend 5-10 years in jail then to have a pair off $200 crap head sets off pain..

Hey there..
What would be a good type of heaphone for a music-obsessed person? I don't really care much for gaming or movies, but wouldn't you be able to hear the same sounds as any other heaphone while occupying yourself with those too? But yeah, mainly for music. Reading 'okay player's post made me realise there may be a whole lot of different attributes to different headphones. I always thought that they were all the same, really. Now I'm interested! Thanks. |
