realtek ac97 problems

i have realtek ac97 onboard sound, and it was working fine. then i reformatted my HD and installed a new power supply. now it doesnt even recognized the ac97. it is enabled in the BIOS, but windows 98 doesnt detect it.

my specs:
AMD Athlon
Win 98
256MB SDRAM
Nvidia GeForce 4000MX

Have you installed your motherboard chipset drivers? Do you have the motherboard CD? If not you should be able to download the drivers from the manufacturer's web site. Otherwise these drivers might work.
