sound card problems, new hd, probally drivers please help

hello I got a new hard drive and it didnt come with my computer there is a problem with the sound card it won't play files windows media player comes with this error when I play a file

0xC00D11BA: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller. You may encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

Your sound device is in use by another program. Quit other programs that may be using your sound device, and then try to play the file again.
Your sound device is not functioning properly. To troubleshoot the problem, see the Sound Troubleshooter in Windows Help or refer to your sound device's documentation.
You do not have a sound device installed on your computer. Install a sound device, and then try to play the file again.
Error ID = 0xC00D11BA, Condition ID = 0x00000000

I was wondering how to find out what sound card I have and where to get the drivers for it if it helps my motheboard has a NVIDIA 220D chipset if not please tell me how to find what sound card I have
thanks for your help
matt

My System

Can you tell us the motherboard make/model? Or do you have an extra sound card? If so, the make and model of that.

you can d/load from the m/b manufacturers d/l section
when you fresh install windows you have to run your m/b setup disk so save them when you d/l to disk for future use
