Voice Recording Not working?
I have a Windows XP computer. When i first got it i had no problems recording sounds with my microphone. I would just plug it in the front pink microphone hole. THere is alost a mic plug in the back, plus an input plug. Just recently i hadn't been able to record anything. I plug into the front plug and yell in the mic. Then when i blast the playback what i recorded i can barely hear myself. I've done a bunch with the input volume and playback nothing works. I've tried pluggin my mic in the back mic plug, when i saw something i can hear myself through the speakers, then when i try and record, the same thing happens when i have to blast the speakers to barely hear myself. I really hope someone can help. thanks

Hi, and welcome to TSF!
Have you tried another program? What program are you using now? Also, if you right click on the volume icon in the system tray and select open volume control, is the microphone volume turned down? Try raising it. If you don't see a microphone volume meter, the click Options > Properties and put a check next to Microphone and then click OK. You should now see the meter. Also, it would be helpful to know the name of your sound card.

I've already tried messing around with the mic volume in volume controls. It's all the way up. I've tried using sound recorder, cool edit, and adobe audition. nothing. Alright to find the name of my sound card i wasn't sure so i went into sound and audio devices and under voice it says has the playback voice and record voice and each has Realtek HD audio rear for the playback and Realtek HD audio front pink mic for the recording. Is that what the name of my sound card is. Also under that i can go to hardware and it has a bunch of "devices". Which one is my soundcard. THe realtek HD? Thanks for the reply
