Plextor DVD Writer not writting correctly

I have a Plextor PX-708A DVD Writter which has worked great for a long time, and this last month when I go to write a DVD it acts like its writing it but the light keeps switching between the Orange (which is what it shows when reading/Writing) and Green which is usualy only on when its idle. Also when it does this the timer that shows how much time is left just goes up adn up and up,. It has exceeded 2 hours before I finally canceled it. It doesnt seem to do this all of the time, and I'm using the same Roxio software and the exact same media that I have always been using. Any ideas?

try it at a slower speed
do you have a/virus or something else running in the background
