problem with dvd drive

Hello all,

I'm new member in Tech Support :) and I hope you can help me

I have problem with the dvd drive when I insert any DVD the drive can't see it and some time a massage shown it says that the DVD format is not compatible with the drive

my OS is XP
I use power DVD to play DVDs

pleeease help me :(

I'm really don't know how to fix it

Try going to the device manager, delete the dvd drive and reboot. Windows should reload it.

Also, is this a dvd rom or dvd burner? Do you have any burning software loaded on this machine?

I uninstalled the drive and Windows reload it but the problem is still existing

when I try to open any DVD, Windows pop-up this massage
"Windows cannot read from this disk. the disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatipble with Windows."

but I can Open this DVD in other computer

greetings

change the ribbon cable
if you have another rom, switch it with that, usually its the way its pinned, master, slave, or cable select..or its the way its plugged in on the ribbon chain.
