Compression setting on Sony SDX-550V tape drive
Hello,
We have an external Sony SDX-550V tape drive that we use to back up our server each night. There is an issue that whenever we lose power the hardware compression is turned back on, which interfers with the software compression we use (in Arcserve) and all of our data won't fit on the tape. Our workaround is to erase each tape daily and then confirm that hardware compression is disabled. This will work fine until the next power glitch at which point we have to do the whole process again. Needless to say it gets frustrating. Does anyone know how to permanently disable the tape drive's hardware compression so that if we have a power outage again we won't have to erase each tape? Thanks for the help. I should also say that I am by no means a tech support specialist, but I am the best thing we have at our company. Mark |
