Question GoldStar CDR unresponsive won't read disks

I have a Gold Star CD-R installed on a HP 8268 733mhz computer running
windows 95. The CDR is listed in the device manager but I have no files
in the CD rom folder and when I go to use the CDR, I get the message
Device not found. I did notice in device manager that CD Rom controllers
were installed double, so I unistalled them. Do I need to reinstall my
CDR device. Need help.

@ ashelt55
If you uninstall them in 'device manager' and restart your system, windows should(not 100% positive with Win95) redetect the drive and reinstall the drivers. It should work OK after that. If Win95 doesn't find your drive upon bootup and reinstall them automatically, you could try going to 'add new hardware' in the control panel.

Keep us posted with your progress.

Gold star CDR unresponsive won't read disks

To Please,
I tried removing the CDR and replaced it with a regular CD-Rom. I believe
that I forgot to set the CD-Rom to slave setting when I installed it because
the device wasn't listed as being installed in device manager, also when I
click on My Computer the CD-Rom is not listed among the devices drive
letters. It does however detect the CD Rom controllers and they are listed
in device manager but not the Rom itself. I checked the CD Rom folder and
found no files in it. Any suggestions.
