Scanner USB unresponsive
I have the Memorex 6136u scanner and disk. I've installed the files on the disk and the last step tells me to hook up the scanner and wait until my computer responds to it. It hasn't done that <_<; I tried looking at it through the control panel but the properties say that it's on port: \\.\Usbscan0 and the status is Unavailable. Help?

Welcome to TSF Have you tried restarting/rebooting with your scanner plugged in and let winXP find it when it starts up? What does it say concerning your scanner in 'device manager'?

Go 'start>(then right click on)my computer>properties>hardware>device manager'. Look for any yellow circles with exclamation points. That will mean there is a problem. It should show up under 'USB controllers'.

Try going to 'control panel>scanners and cameras' . If it is not seen there, then try the 'add device' wizard. I think you are saying it is seen here but listed as 'unavailable'. Silly question, is your scanner plugged in to an AC outlet and turned on?
