UMAX Scanner

Hello,
I have a UMAX Astra 4600 scanner and a WinXp SP2 OS. I have downloaded the Astra4600.exe driver and install it. The OS does not recognize the scanner and when i plug the scanner to the USB the Hardware Add/Remove wizard is poping up. The scanner is not working properly.

Does anyone know what could be the reason or how to solve this problem??

@ balbala
Welcome to TSF

Please do not cross-post as it is against forum rules.

For your scanner problem, either follow the 'add hardware' wizard, or go to 'control panel>scanners and camera>add device' and when prompted by windows, tell them you have your own driver('have disc') and then browse to where the Astra4600.exe installed the .inf file. It might be under 'c>program files>UMAX' or something similar. Windows will be looking for an ".inf" file

If you don't know where it was copied to, try to run a 'search' for the .inf file. It might be 'astra.inf' or 'astra4600.inf'. You could also search by the date you ran the .exe and ".inf".

Thanks for the help but...

I allready tried that. the wizard has found the ".inf" file in the astra4600 setup directory but for some reason, the wizard does not find any driver wich matches that .inf file.

Any help will be great...
