I'm not using vmware. As far as I can see the problem exist because of novell server. The user is logged to windows 2000 server but needs access to novell server. As a result the user have 12 drives. Maybe this represents the problem. I can't seem to find any settings for rights with usb key. I'm really stuck please help.

Hi - I would say that you Admin user has a different logon script and different drive mappings - therefore when he logs in the USB drive doesn't clash with his.

For example - Insert USB key, PC tries to assign G drive but it's already taken by the users home drive...Therefore won't work.

Admin logs in with different mappings (and G free) and USB drive works.

Options would then be....

Change drive mappings in logon script (in Novell Admin)
or easier still....Change Drive assingments in XP for removable drives. This is done in Computer Management - Disk Management - Right click the USB drive (it should be visible even with no assigned drive letter) and Change drive letter.

PC might complain this will affect applications but if you've ot installed any software ONTO the stick to run locally on the PC then it'll not matter!

Cheers!

Michael
