card reader and usb and fireware problem

i have a multi slot thing that fits in the front panel of my pc it has usb and firewire and card readers. the usb and the firewire are working grand cept i want to have the card reader working. what do i connect the card reader cable to on my mobo? i have usb and firewire on the back so i can sacrifice the front ones if necessary.

It depends on the manufacturer and what connectors they decided to use. Most of the card readers I have seen attach thru a USB port or USB MB header connection.

What connector type did the multi-function panel come with for the card reader portion?

it is a black rectangle shaped one with 4 pins on top and 3 pins on the bottom with a missing pin at the end. will i have to install drivers etc
