DVD wont read anything

my dvd drive wont read anything at all, cant play my dvd games or read films. all it does wen i insert a disk is flash, make a little noice, then crash my pc and i have to reboot completely.

anyone have any suggestions at all,
appreciate any view in advance

Sound like your DVD is

Something mechanical has broken or jamed and when you try to use it it overloads the power supply and shuts the system down.

Solution: Replace it.

thanks oldmn...i simply bought a new dvd rom and now all works fine
