can't find my two dvd drives???

hi there,

i got a dvd-rom and a dvd-rewriter which for some reason have disapeared
they r not in 'my computer' or in the device manager list, i went into the bios and both drives r there, i also selected both as 1st boot device and both work at bootup???

please help!!!

uninstall them in the device manager and reboot,when windows finishes rebooting check if you can then see them

thats the problem, they r not in the device manager anymore???

check the jumpers are correct
try a new eide cable
if no good
disconnect the drives and boot up the computer
shut down the computer
reconnect the drives and boot up

ok, first i had another look in the bios, my slave drive (dvd-rom) was not detected so i took it out and replaced it with another drive (i had to use the same ide cable but im gonna go and get a new one today). booted back up and now its not detectin any of the drives, so there must be something wrong with the cable!!! im gonna uninstall the secondary ide channel just to see whats gonna happen???


yeah, no joy with that im off to the shop

nevermind, i forgot to bridge the new drive into slave after ive done it, both drives were back

obviously my old dvd-rom is past its time, i also noticed that the bootup is much faster now

sorry to waste a thread on this

slave drive is not detected again,
i knew i should ve changed the cable
to late now hav to wait till 2morrow
