Power Cable for Floppy Drive
Hi, I recently bought a floppy drive thinking that I would be able to install it, but it turns out that my power cable that goes to it is about 2 or 3 inches short. Is there some kind of cable that I can buy to extend the reach of the power cable? I have a Dell 5100 and I'm running Windos XP Home.
Also, is it necessary to change the setting of the drive to Master or Slave? And what boot order should I put the floppy in? I have a regular DVD Rom and a CD burner that are installed also. I don't know if its necessary to change any of these, but since I'm here, I might as well ask. I'm also assuming that Newegg would carry the kind of cable that I need? Thanks. |

You can buy a power spliter 8" long @ NEWEGG so that you know they exist and what they look like, most shops should have one.
No you do not need to change any of the IDE devices , the folppy runs on it's own controler.

I'm sure there must be an extension cord for the power connector that you can buy.
If not, then (if you are a do-it-yourself-er) you can always do some wire splicing. Edit: It seems they have some towards the bottom of the page here. |
