OS: vista 32bit basic


new dvd writer wont recognise dvds? please help!

Hi, i got a new dvd writer as my old one packed in.
Problem is it will not recognise dvds(it is a dvd writer)it recognises cds blank and recorded.
By the way my old one use to recognise dvds but wouldnt burn them in the end, but it would cd-rs.
The new dvd writer is a samsung ts-h653f and in device manager it says it is working and up to date.
Im on vista 32 bit basic.
Any help much appreciated

Sounds like you have a bad drive. Exchange it.

Uninstall the drive in Device Manager -Windows will reinstall on reboot.

If the above fail return to the place of purchase. Samsung are good readers but not good writers. LG and Lite-On are a good choice for optical drives.
