dvd drives

I am looking for info for a computer type dvd/rw drive. This drive came from a stand alone dvd recorder, i think it was a CYBERHOME, exclusivley a WALMART product no longer sold. The label is as follows--- Brand- ARSTOR TECHNOLOGIES CORP of TAIPE, TAIWAN or perhaps it is ARISTOR? It is described as a dvd plus and minus r/rw drive. Physicaly it is identical to a dvd rom drive or a cd rom drive. 40 pin IDE cable, 4pin 12v dc power. Model # DVR-Y08. I cannot find any info. Please reply to reeltoreelguy@gmail.com Thank you. If I can find info I would like to install it in my test tower along with NERO 8 and see if I can record from the net. I have both typed of discs. The recorder did not function so I have no idea if this drive is functional. The error mess was "CANNOT FIND DISC/ NO DISC". I replaced it with a dvd rom as a test. No go. Disposed of the unit.

Re: dvd drives

No harm in connecting it to the PC to see if it works. There were several models of standalone DVD recorders which used PC spec drives.

Re: dvd drives

What info do you need? Receiving the "CANNOT FIND DISC/ NO DISC" error would make me think the drive has failed.
