I have a pc built myself from the ground up. i ran it for a good few months perfect and with no problems. after my first format the my CD/DVD drive started giving me a few problems. first of all, i installed power iso and whenever i tried burning an iso image or anything else my DVD drive was not showing up even though it was showing up under my computer. most all my cd's and dvd's work when installing but a main thing that has been bothering me was when i tried to install CoD4 and it doesnt work. i insert the cd and close the drive and nothing happens. my computer will freeze up for about 15 seconds and everything will go back to normal but i never hear the disc spin. i open my computer and it shows the disc being there as cod4. i click on it to autoplay and it will freeze up again and give me a warning message saying "D:/ access is denied". can someone please help me with this issue? everything was working fine since the first format and these are the only real problems with my computer at the moment. this is my second format now and this is still not resolved. i will post further information if neccesary. thanks =].

Re: my DVD/CD drive is acting up...
Uninstall the optical drive in Device Manager and reboot the PC.
If that doesn't work try this: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_d...cd_dvd_fix.htm Most likely you have a failed drive.
