CD & DVD Drives will not work

I have XP Home IE8 all windows and IE updates.

I had a problem where my USB Flash Drive gave me message that no program was associated with this file etc when I tried to open a file.

I reformatted the Flash Drive per Verbatum's advice and now it will recognize the Flash Drive which works perfectly BUT neighter my CD or DVD drive will play anything.

They show up in My Computer but when I click on their individual icon nothing happens. When I insert a DVD movie nothing happens.

I can not even get the CD/DVD to open in order to check files.

try removing the filters
