USB only works when booted up
Hey all. this is my first post. I'm stumped. I am working on a Toshiba A100 PSAA8C-TA402C laptop. When I plug a usb device into either port and then boots up, it picks it up and runs it without issue. When I unplugs the unit and tries plugging it back in, it does not recognize it at all. I've rolled back the drivers, uninstalled the USB Root Hubs and restarted. I've run malwarebytes and removed spyware. I was going to install a new chipset driver but was unable to fine the right one for this model. ( even on toshiba's site) From all the reading I've done this seems to be a more and more common issue but I've yet to find a forum with an issue that it works on boot up and then it don't when it's unplugged and plugged in again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Terry |

Re: USB only works when booted up
What type of device are you disconnecting and reconnecting? If it's a drive (thumbdrive or HDD), you should be using the Safely Remove Hardware wizard.

Re: USB only works when booted up
Hey Dogg: I know about using the wizard. I am doing this but when I try placing the jump drive back in it will not detect. I've tried all ports and multiple jump drives. When I shut down with the jump left in, it works again when the comp boots up.
