I have a Ativa 8GB flash drive. I have my website files stored on it and use it often. I usually leave it plugged into my work computer, but unplugged last week. This week I took it out of the drawer it was in and plugged it back in and when I go to open the files on it it says the the disk is not formatted - do I want to format it. I tried it on 3 computers. I get the same message. I am sure that if I select to format it I would lose all my files. Is there any way I can recover the files on this flash drive???? Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: Ativa 8GB Flash Drive Problem
Did you use Safely Remove Hardware or just unplug it while the PC was powered on?
Improper removal of flash drives is a big killer. USB thumb drives are great tools but not a reliable source for backup. Have you tried the drive on another PC?

Re: Ativa 8GB Flash Drive Problem
I have experience the same type of problem with these drives. Owner said that she had used the safely remove hardware app but these(2) drives are now brain dead.. and I cannot get them to even reformat.
