[SOLVED] Problem w/Philips 8631 DVD Burner

I had to reimage my Dell 8400 and now my Philips 8631 DVD burner isn't working properly. I don't have any problem reading disks but it won't burn CD's anymore. I tried going into Device Manager and uninstalling the driver but that didn't work. I also tried installing Roxio but again, no luck. Is this a firmare issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Problem w/Philips 8631 DVD Burner

What exact error are you getting? Do you have all of the XP updates installed?

Re: Problem w/Philips 8631 DVD Burner

I'm not getting any error messages. After I put a blank CD-R in the drive and hit "burn disk" (Roxio or iTunes) it more or less just times out after about 60 seconds.

Two other points...

1. I also have Driver Detective installed on my PC. All my drivers appear to be up to date.
2. I have a Dell Dimension 8400. Last night I went to Dells Technical Support Website and reinstalled the Philips firmware. Again, no luck.

This was the link I visited... http://support.dell.com/support/down...&catid=&impid=

Thanks.

Bob

Dogg.... Yes, all my XP Updates have been installed.

I just attempted to use Roxio again. The program acknowledged a blank disk was in the drive but when I went to burn my file it timed out after 30 - 45 seconds.

Uninstall the optical drive in Device manager and Windows will reinstall it on reboot.
