corrupted *.DAV file on thumb drive
Hello there,
I hope this is posted on the correct forum, but I really was not sure.... I have a sun system 8 channel DVR security system. Something occurred and I copied a file from the DVR to my Sony 8 GB USB drive. The file copied is a *.dav. The file appears in the drive file directory (239,878 kb DAV file). However when I attempt to read the file using the "DVR 365 player 2008-A", it says the following "an unknown error occurred while accessing an unamed file". I know this player works as I have used it to play other files copied from the DVR. In addition, I have tried to copy the file to another drive, but have not been successful. I do not know much about file recovery. What I have been able to find on the web is that DAV files are linux-based. Are there "fixes" for Linux-based files and if so where do I go to get the program? Thank you for your time. Regards, T |

Re: corrupted *.DAV file on thumb drive
If I had to guess, I'd say that it couldn't be "recovered". If the file is still intact on the DVR, you can try to copy it off again. If it won't copy off, then it would appear it's the original file that is damaged/corrupted and hence the reason why the copied file is unreadable.
