notSafelyRemovingIomega

I got this new external harddrive 1TB Iomega make on my Acer Vista laptop never seems to be able to safely remove. Had to use my ancient Dell XP laptop because of OS mock up on my part anyway on my old laptop every time i safely remove it, it does what it is supposed to how comes.

Also after removing it the harddrive light remains on and continues making noise is it ok to unplug it after safely removing. also if i can't safely remove it is it ok to shut it down. some people mention editing a text file before shutting it down so only that gets edited/changed.
thanks for help

Re: notSafelyRemovingIomega

The "Safely Remove" process does not power the drive off, so the power light will stay on and the drive is still spinning. Once Windows says the drive can be removed, you are free to power it off and/or disconnect it.
