[SOLVED] Sony DVD-RW/CD-RW drive problem
Okay, so I was envious of my auntie's computer that had a DVD-RW drive in it, she doesn't use the computer anymore and with her permission and with help from an uncle over the phone I switched drives. I tried a CD-R in the drive and it recognized it, I put a DVD in there and it played it (I would really love to be able to write DVDs but I don't have any blank ones) but when I took the DVD out, I got some sort of blue screen of death error that made me restart my computer. The computer thankfully works now and I'm using it, but now I'm scared of the drive, what could have caused such a problem? Uncle is kind of tired tonight and I don't want to bother him anymore, especially with something minor this could be.
Edit: It does fine with a regular data cd. No errors reading it or taking it out/putting it in. Last edited by Angnix; 09-10-2009 at 06:02 PM. |

Re: Sony DVD-RW/CD-RW drive problem
Not much telling . . could be that the drive was not fullr recognized until a reboot . . if it's working ok now you are probably OK

Re: Sony DVD-RW/CD-RW drive problem
yeah, it seems to be working now. I just realized though my video creation program doesn't save to DVD, so I'll have to find another program out there to do that with to use the DVD writer

Re: Sony DVD-RW/CD-RW drive problem
I don't know what to call it... the front part of the outside I guess, the cosmetic part on the front of the computer, I had to take it off to get the drive in there and it won't pop back on, I might have taken it off wrong or something. It's not a big deal though.
I would take a picture of it, but I'm busy copying stuff from my SD drives at the moment. Last edited by Angnix; 09-11-2009 at 07:06 AM. |

Re: Sony DVD-RW/CD-RW drive problem
The front bezel thing still doesn't want to snap back in, so I just taped it on there :P
I just used the thing to burn a DVD and it worked fine and the DVD burned fine, my relatives will love it, though I compressed the video too much and it's too pixally :P |
