Flash Drive - Memory Problem

For the past six months I have been using my 1GB Dane-Elec Flash Drive flash drive without problems, but recently I attempted to clear it of its memory only to discover that 253mbs of it appear to be in use.

Running a check on the drive I was told that the 253mbs of space was taken up by 88 hidden files. I have tried to access these files in order to delete them but without any success.

Is the drive permanently damaged or is there a way to restore it?

When you say "clear it of it's memory" are you referring to wiping it clean?
A Format should do that. Right clik the drive and select Format or go into Disk Management and format it there.
