To Buy new DVD-drive

Dear Sir,
My pc is of following configuration:
CPU : Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.00 GHz
Motherboard : Biostar Group GF7050V-M7 SE
Memory : ZION 1GB DDR2
Monitor : LG Flatron L1520b
OS : Windows XP SP3 Performance Edition
Antivirus : Kaspersky Internet Security 2009
Anti-Spyware : Spybot - Search & Destroy
Optical Drive : Samsung DVD+R/RW Drive Model SH-W162

Whenever I try making copy of a DVD using Nero7 the following error shows up “Error reading data, Unrecoverable read error at LBA0”. Most of my Dvd’s don’t read at all or the system becomes very slow and hangs up whenever I insert a Dvd. Also I tried making a Data disc few days ago, after a few moments it stopped, showing an error and the disc also got spoiled. (I have Vista Transformation Pack 09 installed). Is there a problem with my Optical Drive? If so, then what will be the best Optical Drive to buy(other than Samsung) within a budget of Rs.1200-1300 and as I have only one IDE port on my Motherboard can I connect it using SATA? Please Help (Urgent). Thanking you,

- Titas

Re: To Buy new DVD-drive

You could try a different brand of media but you have the symptoms of a dying drive.
Verbatim is the best easily obtainable media.
You have 4 SATA ports on that Mobo, located just below the RAM slots in the lower right hand corner of the Mobo, so you can use SATA.
LG $26

Lite-On $29

Both are OEM but come with burning software.
Both are good readers and writers.
