Cannot view files on USB memory stick

Help! Until today I could happily view and edit files on my USB memory stick, now when I plug it in no files are showing, although when I click on properties it is showing that data is in the memory as it is about 3/4 full. I have successfully saved a new file to it today but the many files I had seem to have disappeared and all that is left are two icons which when you click on them just ask what you want to open them with (adobe etc). I have tried rebooting with the memory stick plugged in as was suggested on a different forum and I have tried it with different USB ports and different laptops, one with XP and one with Vista and still no joy. Can anyone tell me how I can retrieve the files I have lost as some of them are vital.

Thanks in advance to anyone who help! The brand is a Pocki Drive USB 2GB and the memory is FAT (I don't know much about this stuff).

Re: Cannot view files on USB memory stick

USB sticks are handy items but many are not very reliable.
I think you have a failed USB stick.
